Who We Are

COFOUNDERS

Lisa Truong (lisa at helpamotherout dotorg), Executive Director:  Lisa is the mother of two young children. A survivor of the dot-com boom and bust, she has seen firsthand the power of the internet to connect, inform, and inspire. Her tenure as an operations manager for a philanthropic organization dedicated to social change inspired her to think big about small actions.  Lisa served on the “Mobilizing Support” panel at Yale Law School’s 2010 Colloquium on Diaper Rights and is a contributor in social media experts Janet Fouts and Beth Kanter’s book: #SOCIALMEDIA Nonprofit: 140 Bite-Sized Ideas for Nonprofit Social Media Engagement. She is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley.

Rachel Fudge (rachel at helpamotherout dotorg), Advisory Board Member & Contributor: Rachel is a freelance editor and writer, and mother of a two-year-old girl. She spent eight years in the trenches of nonprofit media as an editor and board member of the magazine Bitch: Feminist Response to Pop Culture, and is a lifelong advocate for improving opportunities for women and girls. She is a graduate of Princeton University.

CONTRIBUTORS

Julie Michelle (julie at helpamotherout dotorg), Photographer & San Francisco Contributor: Julie is a San Francisco-based photographer, one of the founding members of the San Francisco-based photography collective CALIBER, and creator of the ongoing portrait project i live here:SF. Julie first became aware of the needs of homeless mothers and domestic violence survivors and their children by being directly involved in the support of a young homeless mother and her family that were living off donations. Julie is passionate about using photography as an awareness raising tool to help bring attention to issues where people can be educated and empowered to make a difference.

Rachel Miller (Rachel.Miller at helpamotherout dotorg), Arizona Chapter:  Rachel is a newly minted citizen of the United States after 20 years of residency. She is parent to a feisty toddler and has worked in public education from elementary to the college level for the past 15 years. She graduated from the University of Arizona and is thrilled to be involved in a project that turns rhetoric into action.

Kim Tracy Prince (kim at helpamotherout dotorg) Southern California Chapter:  Kim is a reality television producer and writer in Los Angeles, and a mother of two young boys.  She has been blogging (House of Prince) since 2004, and believes that social media has the power to make a difference in children’s lives.  She is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.

Colleen Rivecca is an advisory board member for Help A Mother Out. She works as the Advocacy Coordinator for St. Anthony Foundation in San Francisco and is a member of the steering committee of the California Hunger Action Coalition’s.  She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Coalition on Homelessness.
