The services that HAMO and Children’s Council provide for families are vital at a time when families’ budgets are stretched to the limit. A recent report showed that a California family with two working parents and two children needs an annual income of $75,500 to make ends meet. To earn this income, both parents would need to work full-time, year-round, and earn an hourly wage of $18.15. This scenario is out of reach for many families in our recession-ravaged state, not to mention families headed by single parents.
We want to thank you all for supporting our donation drive on behalf of families affected by the San Bruno Fire. Over the weekend our donation locations received a tremendous amount of traffic and bulk in-kind donations. It was such a success that we’ve exceeded our capacity to accept in kind donations on behalf of victims of the San Bruno Fire.

Any parent will tell you it is a terrible inconvenience to run out to the drugstore late at night because you ran out of diapers. But this occasional inconvenience is nothing compared to the crisis unfolding across the nation for families who are unable to provide their children with an adequate supply of diapers.
