This is part of a series highlighting some of the amazing volunteers behind the diaper drives that support Help a Mother Out’s mission. By Dulcey Reiter
Patricia came to the U.S. over 30 years ago after training as a pediatric nurse in France. As a parent herself and sleep training consultant for families, supporting Help a Mother Out is a cause close to her heart: "I know what it means to buy diapers, I know what it means to raise kids," she shares. "In my professional life I've worked with families who were really struggling, so I've always been very connected to other parents."
When Patricia decided to give back to her community, the choice was clear: diapers. "Having a baby without a clean diaper is terrible and you feel so guilty," she explains. After discovering HAMO and learning that one in two families struggles to afford diapers, she knew she'd found the organization she wanted to support.
Organizing a diaper drive became a natural extension of Patricia's lifelong commitment to supporting families—offering the same compassionate, practical help she'd provided throughout her nursing career, but this time around, it was one diaper at a time.
The experience brought unexpected moments of joy, too. "Those boxes that would just appear in front of my house," Patricia shares, "it was really rewarding."
